Understanding Feed Settings

Every feed has configurable settings that control what products are included and how they’re formatted. This guide explains all available options.

  1. Go to Feeds in the left sidebar

A descriptive name for your feed. Use clear names that indicate:

Geotargeting lets you create feeds for specific markets. This is essential for selling internationally—each feed can target a different country with localized settings.

Advertising platforms like Google Shopping require feeds to match the target market:

  • Prices must be in the local currency
  • Shipping costs must reflect actual delivery to that country
  • Language should match the market
  • Tax rates must comply with local requirements

Example: To sell in both the US and UK, create two feeds:

  • “Google Shopping - US” targeting United States, USD, English
  • “Google Shopping - UK” targeting United Kingdom, GBP, English

The country where products will be advertised. This affects:

  • Which shipping zones are required
  • Currency expectations
  • Tax requirements
  • Platform compliance checks

Available countries include all major markets: US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, and 30+ more.

The currency for prices in your feed:

  • Must match your target country (e.g., USD for US, GBP for UK)
  • Prices are formatted correctly for the selected currency
  • If your Shopify store uses a different currency, ensure your prices are correct for this market

Content language for titles and descriptions:

  • Match your target market’s primary language
  • AI optimization generates content in the selected language
  • Important for non-English markets (German for Germany, French for France, etc.)

Your unique feed URL for platform submission:

  • Copy URL to clipboard
  • URLs are permanent unless you delete the feed
  • Supports token authentication if enabled

How often to regenerate:

IntervalBest For
Every 6 hoursFrequent price/inventory changes
Every 12 hoursMost stores (recommended)
Every 24 hoursStable inventory
Manual onlyTesting or special cases

Set exact times for feed generation:

  1. Enable Schedule at specific times
  2. Add times (in your timezone)
  3. Feed regenerates at each scheduled time

Useful when:

  • Platforms fetch at specific times
  • You want to control server load
  • Coordinating with inventory updates

Customize how product titles are generated:

VariableDescription
{title}Shopify product title
{variant_title}Variant name (size, color)
{brand}Brand/vendor name
{sku}Product SKU
{product_type}Product type

Example: {brand} {title} - {variant_title}

Result: “Nike Air Max 90 - Black / Size 10”

Where to get product descriptions:

  • Shopify description — Use your product descriptions
  • Custom field — Use a metafield
  • AI generated — Let AI create descriptions

Add tracking parameters to product URLs:

ParameterTypical Value
utm_sourcegoogle, facebook, etc.
utm_mediumcpc, shopping
utm_campaignyour campaign name

Example result:

Control variant handling:

  • All variants — Each variant is a separate feed item
  • Primary variant only — Only the first/default variant
  • Variants with images — Only variants with unique images

Configure identifier requirements:

SettingBehavior

Require brandOnly include products with brand
Use SKU as MPNFall back to SKU when MPN is empty

Configure shipping costs for each country you ship to. You can add up to 100 shipping zones per feed—essential for international selling.

Each shipping zone includes:

SettingDescription

Tips:

  • Add a shipping zone for your target country at minimum
  • Include neighboring countries if you ship there
  • Google Shopping requires shipping for product approval
  • Use the “Add zone” button to add more countries

Configure tax rates for each country or region. You can add up to 100 tax regions per feed.

Each tax region includes:

SettingDescription
CountryTwo-letter country code
Tax ratePercentage rate (e.g., 20 for 20%)
Tax shippingWhether shipping is taxed in this region

Example configuration:

CountryRateTax Shipping
USVaries by stateNo
GB20%Yes
DE19%Yes
FR20%Yes

Tips:

  • US tax is complex—consider using your state’s rate or leaving blank for Google to calculate
  • EU countries typically have VAT that applies to shipping
  • Tax information helps platforms show accurate total costs

Require authentication to access your feed:

  1. Enable Require token
  2. Copy the generated token
  3. Add ?token=YOUR_TOKEN to feed URL

Or use HTTP header:

Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN

Track who accesses your feed:

  • View last 50 access attempts
  • See IP addresses and timestamps
  • Identify unauthorized access

After modifying settings:

  1. Click Save Settings
  2. Optionally regenerate the feed immediately
  3. Changes apply to next scheduled generation
