This glossary defines terms you’ll encounter when using Feedy McFeed Feed and managing product feeds.

A piece of product information in your feed, like title, price, or brand. Platforms require specific attributes for products to be approved.

Automatic synchronization of product data between your Shopify store and Feedy McFeed Feed.

The manufacturer or brand name of a product. Required for most products in Google Shopping.

Your complete collection of products. In Facebook and TikTok, product feeds are often called “catalogs.”

A text file format where data is separated by commas. Some platforms accept CSV feeds.

Optional attributes (0-4) that let you group products for campaign management. For example, “seasonal”, “best-seller”, or “clearance”.

When a platform rejects a product from your feed due to policy violations or data issues.

A structured file (XML, CSV, or TSV) containing your product data formatted for a specific advertising platform.

The web address where your feed file is hosted. Platforms fetch your feed from this URL.

The configuration that tells Feedy McFeed Feed which Shopify data to use for each feed attribute.

Google’s platform for managing product data that appears in Google Shopping and other Google services.

Google’s taxonomy for categorizing products. Accurate categorization improves ad targeting.

A unique product identifier (UPC, EAN, ISBN, etc.). Required for most products with GTINs.

A 0-100 rating of your feed’s data quality based on validation rules.

A unique code for a product, including GTIN, MPN, and brand combinations.

When your product ad is displayed to a user.

A unique code assigned by the manufacturer. Required when GTIN isn’t available.

An advertising channel where your products appear (Google, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, Microsoft).

Your own categorization for products, like “Clothing > Men’s > T-Shirts”. Different from Google Product Category.

Your internal product identifier used for inventory management.

An additional feed that adds or updates data in your primary feed without replacing it.

The process of updating Feedy McFeed Feed’s product data from your Shopify store.

A text file format where data is separated by tabs. Google Shopping’s preferred format.

A hierarchical classification system. Google Product Category uses Google’s product taxonomy.

The process of checking your product data against platform requirements.

A specific version of a product with its own SKU, like a particular size or color.

A structured file format commonly used for product feeds. Supports hierarchical data.
