Bulk Editing Products

Bulk editing lets you update hundreds of products in minutes instead of hours. Use it for setting categories, adding custom labels, or updating attributes across your catalog.

Feedy McFeed Feed offers several ways to edit products in bulk:

  1. Go to Products

    Navigate to the Products section.

  2. Filter products

    Use filters to narrow down:

    • By collection
    • By product type
    • By vendor
    • By status (has issues, missing data)
  3. Select products

    • Click individual checkboxes
    • Or click “Select All” for filtered results
  4. Click Bulk Edit

    Opens the bulk edit panel.

  1. Select the attribute to change
  2. Enter the new value
  3. Choose:
    • Overwrite — Replace existing values
    • Fill empty — Only update products without a value
  4. Click Apply
  5. Confirm the change

For larger changes or complex updates:

  1. Go to Products
  2. Apply filters (optional)
  3. Click Export
  4. Choose format (CSV or Excel)
  5. Select columns to include
  6. Download file

Open the file in Excel or Google Sheets:

Add your data:

  1. Go to Products
  2. Click Import
  3. Upload your edited file
  4. Map columns to attributes
  5. Choose update mode:
    • Update existing — Only modify matching products
    • Create new — Add new products if not found
  6. Preview changes
  7. Confirm import

Set rules to automatically categorize products:

  1. Go to Settings > Product Rules
  2. Click Add Rule
  3. Define conditions:
    • Title contains “shirt”
    • Product type equals “Apparel”
    • Vendor is “Nike”
  4. Set actions:
    • Set Google Product Category
    • Add custom label
    • Set brand

Categorize apparel by type:

IF product_type contains "shirt"
THEN set google_product_category = "Apparel > Shirts"

Label sale items:

IF compare_at_price > price
THEN set custom_label_0 = "on-sale"

Set brand from vendor:

IF vendor is not empty
THEN set brand = vendor
  1. After creating rules, click Run Rules
  2. Preview affected products
  3. Confirm application
  4. Rules run automatically on new products

Improve content across many products at once:

  1. Select products
  2. Click Optimize with AI > Titles
  3. Choose optimization settings:
    • Include brand
    • Add attributes
    • Optimize length
  4. Review suggestions
  5. Apply accepted changes

  2. Click Optimize with AI > Descriptions
  3. AI rewrites descriptions
  4. Review and approve
  1. Select products without categories
  2. Click Optimize with AI > Categories
  3. AI analyzes products and suggests categories
  4. Review and apply

Test changes on a few products before applying to entire catalog.

Combine filters to precisely target products:

  • Collection: “Summer Sale” AND
  • Product type: “T-Shirts” AND
  • Missing: “Google Product Category”

Always preview changes:

  • Check the product count
  • Review sample affected products
  • Confirm the new values are correct

Keep a log of bulk edits:

  • Date and time
  • What was changed
  • How many products affected
  • Why the change was made

  1. Filter: Missing Google Product Category
  2. Filter by product type
  3. Bulk edit: Set category
  4. Repeat for each product type
  1. Export products with cost and price
  2. Calculate margin in spreadsheet
  3. Add margin tier labels (high/medium/low)
  4. Import updated file
  1. Filter by collection (“Summer Collection”)
  2. Bulk edit: Set custom_label_0 = “summer”
  3. Repeat for other seasons
  1. Filter: Missing brand
  2. Group by vendor
  3. Bulk edit each vendor group
  4. Set brand = vendor name
  • Check file format (CSV/Excel)
  • Verify column headers match expected names
  • Look for special characters causing issues
  • Ensure IDs match existing products
  • Regenerate the feed after bulk edits
  • Check that products are included in feed filters
  • Verify attribute is mapped in feed settings
  • Refine your filters
  • Work in smaller batches
  • Use import/export for very large changes
