Accurate product categorization improves ad targeting, helps shoppers find your products, and increases conversion rates.
Two Types of Categories

Section titled “Google Product Category (GPC)”Google’s standardized taxonomy with 6,000+ categories. Used by:
- Google Shopping
- Microsoft Shopping (accepts Google’s taxonomy)
- Some Facebook features
Product Type

- Campaign segmentation
- Reporting
- Internal organization
Google Product Category

- Select products
- Click Optimize with AI
- Choose Categories
- Review and apply suggestions
Method 3: Competitor Research
- Search for similar products on Google Shopping
- Note what categories competitors use
- Match for comparable products
Setting Categories in Feedy McFeed Feed

- Go to Products
- Click on a product
- Find Google Product Category
- Start typing to search categories
- Select from suggestions
- Save
Bulk Assignment:
- Go to Products
- Filter by product type or collection
- Select all matching products
- Click Bulk Edit
- Set Google Product Category
- Apply
Feed-Level Default:
- Go to Feeds > select feed > Settings
- Set Default Google Product Category
- Applies to products without specific category

- Feedy McFeed Feed maps them to

- Click on a product
- Find Product Type field
- Enter your custom hierarchy
- Save

AI Category Suggestions
