My Products Are Disapproved in GMC

Product disapprovals happen when your products don’t meet Google’s requirements. This guide helps you identify issues and fix them.

  1. Go to Products
  2. Filter by: GMC Status = Disapproved
  3. Review affected products
  1. Go to GMC > Diagnostics
  2. View “Product issues”
  3. Filter by “Disapproved”

Error: “Missing unique product identifier”

Required: GTIN, or brand + MPN

Fix:

  1. Add GTIN (UPC/EAN) if available
  2. Or add both brand AND MPN
  3. For custom products: Set identifier_exists: false

Error: “Price in feed doesn’t match landing page”

Cause: Feed price ≠ website price

Fix:

  1. Sync prices in Shopify
  2. Regenerate feed
  3. Request re-review in GMC

Error: “Image quality insufficient” or “Image doesn’t meet requirements”

Causes:

  • Image too small
  • Promotional text on image
  • Wrong format

Fix:

  1. Use images at least 100x100 (250x250 for apparel)
  2. Remove text overlays
  3. Use JPG or PNG format

Common missing:

  • Brand
  • Condition
  • Google Product Category
  • Apparel attributes (color, size, gender, age_group)

Fix:

  1. Identify missing attribute
  2. Add to product in Feedy McFeed Feed
  3. Regenerate feed

Error: “Product policy violation”

Common causes:

  • Prohibited products
  • Misleading claims
  • Counterfeit goods
  • Restricted content

Fix:

  1. Review Google Shopping policies
  2. Remove or modify violating content
  3. Request review after fixing

  2. Or view in Feedy McFeed Feed product details
  3. Note the exact reason

  4. Apply to all
  5. Regenerate

Fix these first:

  • Best-selling products
  • Products in active campaigns
  • High-margin items

Can wait:

  • Low-traffic products
  • Out-of-season items
  • Products you plan to remove
  • Fill all required attributes
  • Use accurate GTINs
  • Keep prices synced
  • Meet image standards
  • Check GMC Diagnostics weekly
  • Review validation in Feedy McFeed Feed
  • Monitor health score

Enable notifications for:

  • New disapprovals
  • Health score drops
  • Data issues

Contact Google support if:

  • Disapproval seems incorrect
  • You’ve fixed the issue but still disapproved
  • You need policy clarification
  • Account-level issues
