Feed Won't Generate

When feed generation fails, products aren’t updated in advertising platforms. This guide helps you diagnose and fix generation issues.

  1. Go to Feeds > select feed
  2. View Generation History
  3. Find failed generation
  4. Click to see error details

Error: “Feed generation timed out”

Cause: Large catalog taking too long

Solutions:

  • Wait and retry
  • Reduce products with filters
  • Contact support for optimization

Error: “Out of memory” or similar

Cause: Very large or complex products

Solutions:

  • Reduce feed size
  • Split into multiple feeds
  • Contact support

Error: “Validation failed for X products”

Cause: Product data issues blocking generation

Solutions:

  • View validation errors
  • Fix critical issues
  • Retry generation

Error: Database connection or query error

Cause: System issue

Solutions:

  • Wait a few minutes
  • Retry
  • Contact support if persistent

  1. Go to feed details
  2. Click Regenerate
  3. Wait for completion
  4. Check status

If timeout or memory issues:

  1. Go to feed settings
  2. Add collection or product type filter
  3. Reduce products to essential ones
  4. Regenerate
  1. Create Feed A: Collection “Category 1”
  2. Create Feed B: Collection “Category 2”
  3. Submit both feeds to platform

After successful generation:

  1. Click Preview to view content
  2. Or Download to inspect file
  3. Verify products appear correctly
  4. Check sample data quality

Causes:

  • Filters excluding all products
  • Products not synced
  • All products failing validation

Fix:

  • Review filter settings
  • Check product sync status
  • Review validation errors

Causes:

  • Extreme filtering
  • Products deleted from Shopify
  • Sync not completed

Fix:

  • Check filters aren’t too restrictive
  • Verify products exist in Shopify
  • Wait for sync to complete

Causes:

  • Other generations in queue
  • System backlog
  • Technical issue

Fix:

  • Wait for queue to clear
  • Check for other pending generations
  • Contact support if stuck > 1 hour

For stores with 50,000+ products:

  • Schedule generation during off-peak
  • Allow extra time
  • Consider multiple smaller feeds

For products with many variants or images:

  • Generation takes longer
  • Ensure timeout settings allow for this

Contact support if:

  • Repeated failures with same error
  • Timeout on small catalogs
  • System errors persisting > 1 hour
  • Error messages you don’t understand

Include:

  • Feed name/ID
  • Error message
  • When issue started
  • Steps already tried
