Fixing Image Issues

Image issues are among the most common reasons for product disapprovals. This guide covers how to identify and fix image problems.

  1. Go to Products
  2. Filter by:
    • “Image Issue” = Yes
    • Or specific: “Image Too Small”, “Missing Image”
  3. Review affected products
  1. Find original high-resolution image
  2. Upload to Shopify product
  3. Feedy McFeed Feed auto-updates on next sync
  1. Check if variant has larger image
  2. Or use additional_image if larger
  3. Configure image priority in settings

Not recommended—upscaled images may look blurry.

Test the URL in your browser:

  • 404 = Image deleted or moved
  • 403 = Access denied
  • Timeout = Server issue

Recommendation: Use JPEG for photos, PNG for graphics with transparency.

  • Clear, focused product shots
  • White or neutral backgrounds
  • Professional lighting
  • Product fills 75% of frame
  • Multiple angles (additional images)
  • Blurry or pixelated images
  • Text overlays or watermarks
  • Promotional badges (“SALE”, “NEW”)
  • Cluttered backgrounds
  • Stock photos with visible watermarks

For clothing products:

Adding multiple images improves performance:

  1. Front view (primary)
  2. Back view
  3. Detail/close-up
  4. Size/scale reference
  5. Lifestyle/in-use
  1. Add images to Shopify product
  2. In Feedy McFeed Feed, enable “Include additional images”
  3. Set maximum number (typically 5-10)

Feedy McFeed Feed detects common placeholders:

  • “No image available” graphics
  • Generic product silhouettes
  • Low-resolution thumbnails
  • Default Shopify placeholders

Products with placeholders are flagged for attention.

Images work in browser but fail validation

Possible causes:

  • Geo-blocking (test from different location)
  • Rate limiting on image server
  • Temporary server issue

Solution: Wait and re-validate, or host images elsewhere.

Cause: Actual image dimensions vs displayed size differ.

Solution: Check actual pixel dimensions, not CSS display size.

Shopify images appear correct but feed shows wrong image

Cause: Image sync delay or cache issue.

Solution: Force sync in Feedy McFeed Feed, wait 10 minutes, regenerate feed.
